JULY IN THE MOUNTAINS

My daily 'forced march' is especially lovely this time of the year...the Rhododendron and wild flowers are all in bloom here in our mountain valley, elevation 3,200 ft.

I'll respond to both Margaret and Robbie....yes, it's beautiful country, esp. at this time of the year. Also at this time of the year....yup...the ticks are out. Our roads are paved BUT the dog wanders and picks up ticks....yuck!

I remember being so surprised when my brother moved to Raleigh and extolled the beauty of the rhodies in the nearby mountains. I'd only known Rhodies in western WA and while in Tacoma lived a short walk from a park loaded with them, short, towering, a variety of colors. It never occurred to me that they could be found wild in the mountains, and certainly not on the other side of the US!

I'm answering Robbie's question regarding my quilt stencils for Quilting Creations. I designed about 70 stencils....many were specifically designed to accept trapunto work. Several designs can be found in pullout templates pages of my garment book "The Whole Cloth Garment Stori"......published by AQS but long out of print. They were designed for hand quilting but most easily adapted to the machine as well. And now you know the 'Inside Stori".
